Lubeck Cathedral was founded in 1173 by Duke Heinrich Leo as a Romanesque basilica, chapels were added in the 13th century, and in the 14th century the cathedral was rebuilt into a Gothic hall church, in which the side the naves have the same height of the vaults with the central one. The cathedral is distinguished by two square towers 120 meters high.

The rich interior decoration of the cathedral has been preserved, including the altar cross, carved from 17-meter oak by the famous Lubeck master Bernt Notke. Among the huge figures, one can see the figures of Adam and Eve, as well as the founder of the cathedral, Bishop Albert Krummedik. Another pride of the cathedral is the bronze font, which is supported by three kneeling angels. This is the work of Lorenzo Grove, dating back to the 50s of the 15th century.
