Rating: 7,5/10 (200 votes) This fort was built during the reign of Sultan Kait-Bey, who ruled in Egypt at the end of the 15th century. The door to the fort is made of wood and made a little later, during the reign of the British in Egypt. Some elements of the building are made of granite, but the main material is limestone. The main tower of the fort is located in the northeast of the building. On the second floor of the building there is a model of the fort, on which the building is depicted in its original form. One floor above is the throne of the Sultan and a balcony for observing the ruler of his troops. Over the entire period of its existence, the fort was destroyed twice - – the French led by Napoleon; and the British. King Farouk restored the fort in 1940, then it was restored twice more in the 20th century.
