Column of Pompey in Egypt, Alexandria resort
Rating: 7,8/10 (242 votes)  Pompey's Column is a granite structure, the height of which reaches 30 meters. Column width at the base – 9 meters. The pillar was so named in honor of the commander Gnei Pompey, despite the fact that the pillar has nothing in common with this commander. This column – the only thing left of the Serapeum Temple. Pompey's Column – it is the oldest monument in Alexandria, it dates back to the 3rd century BC
