Al-Husn Palace is one of the few buildings in the city, which is more than 30 years old. The palace is also known as the White or Old Fort.

The first written mention of the Old Fort Al-Husn dates back to 1793. When the first settlers of the city of Abu Dhabi discovered fresh water here in 1761, a fort was built around it to protect the well.

The outer walls of the present fort, inside which the old square fort is located, were built in the 19th century by the former ruler Sheikh Shakhbut, who made the fort his residence.

Currently, the interior of the palace has been completely renovated, but some elements of the interior decoration are more than 100 years old.
