The museum building is located in the Maxvorstadt district, nearby – The Turkish Gate and the Pinakothek of Modernity. The museum's exposition is based on the collection of contemporary art by Udo Brandhorst, the heir to Henkel, and Anette Brandhorst, his wife. The museum building covers an area of 3200 square meters. m. It was built according to the project of the architectural bureau Sauerbruch Hutton. The collection of the museum presents works of art in the style of classical modernism, as well as canvases by artists representing art after 1945. Among them are the works of Joseph Beuys, Sigmar Polke, Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol and Cy Twombly, whose work has an entire floor. The museum is part of the Munich Art Areas.
