The old castle is the residence of the rulers of the Wurttemberg house, located in the central part of Stuttgart. The first fortress building appeared on this place back in 950, and in the XIV century the counts of Wurttemberg took possession of the fortress, making it their residence. In the middle of the 16th century, the fortress was rebuilt into a beautiful castle. During the Second World War, the building was badly damaged. At the end of the war, reconstruction work began, which lasted until 1971. Currently, the castle houses the Wurttemberg Museum.
