Construction The villa was started by decree of Karl Eugene, Duke of Wurttemberg in 1764 and finished in 1769. The author of the project is the French Rococo master Philippe de la Guepierre. The facade of the building was made in the Rococo style, the interior decoration – in the style of classicism. In the 1770s, the building housed the military educational institution Charles School. The future philosopher, poet and professor of history Friedrich Schiller was brought up here. After 1775, the castle gradually began to decline, frescoes and ceiling paintings were badly damaged by the water.
