Veliki Tabor Castle in Croatia

The medieval castle is a fortified fortress with powerful fortress walls and original towers. The oldest tower was built in the 12th century, while others were added in the 15th century to increase defenses. The entire entrance to the castle was built at the beginning of the 19th century. The castle covers an area of 3340 square meters. One of the sights of the medieval castle is an old well, located in the center of the courtyard, 31 meters deep. Also of interest is the old winery and the press, where visitors can taste the local wine. Now the fortress houses a museum, where you can see old paintings, items of blacksmithing and pottery, old weapons, a large ethnographic collection, as well as ancient vehicles and valuable historical documents. On the ground floor there is an old chapel that stores remains of Veronica Desinich. The entrance to the territory of the medieval castle is paid. In summer, it hosts costumed performances with master classes in bow and sword skills, as well as various festivals.
