In 1802, Gia Long (real name Nguyen Anh) took the throne and decided to settle in the city of Hue (Fu Xuan). In 1820, the emperor died at the age of 58. Today, Gia Long's grave is located on the top of Tien Tho Mountain, on the banks of the Huong River, 16 kilometers from the city.

Construction of the tomb began in 1814 and was completed in 1820. The tomb is located on a plain and has a monumental, but at the same time rather simple design.

Right in front of the tomb there is a small pond, behind which there is a pavilion where you can watch statues of horses and elephants. The Buu Thanh Hall contains sarcophagi containing the remains of Emperor Gia Long and Empress Thua Tien Kao. Memorial services are held in the courtyard of Then San Te. To the left of the Buu Thanh hall is a pavilion with steles, and on the right – Min Thanh Temple.
