Rating: 8,5/10 (2542 votes) Emperor Khai Dinh ascended the throne in 1916. He chose the Chau Chu Mountain, located 10 kilometers from the city of Hue, as the site for the construction of his tomb. In September 1920, the construction of the tomb was started, and it was completed only 11 years later. Unlike the tombs of the previous rulers, the Khai Dinh tomb is smaller, but not inferior in design. The architecture of the tomb is a mixture of numerous architectural trends of Asian and European art. This tomb, unlike others, was built with modern materials such as reinforced concrete and steel. Also another distinctive feature of the tomb is the beautiful porcelain decorations on the columns, walls and ceiling.
