The Utulik River is a tributary of Lake Baikal at Khamar-Daban, its length is more than 180 kilometers. The name of the river comes from the Buryat word "hutel" or "hutuleg", which translates as "low pass". However, scientists still do not understand what kind of pass in this case, since there are stone passes throughout the river.

The Utulik River feeds on melt water and due to precipitation. During the summer period, 1/4 of the river is fed by groundwater, and 3/4 by rain. The average slope of the river is 7.7 m / km.

The river has been studied quite well by local residents and scientists. And although there is no good passage along it, and the route is very difficult, Utulik is quite popular among tourists. In the absence of floods, the water in the river is crystal clear.

Utulik is especially popular with people who go fishing and rafting on mountain rivers. There are many great fishing spots here. Mainly grayling is caught on Utulik. At the same time, here you can also catch taimen and lenok.

The rafting section of the river from the confluence of the left tributary to Lake Baikal takes about 50 km. You can go on rafting on rafts, catamarans or rafts. There are more than 100 different obstacles on this site, making the rafting fun and exciting. Somewhere in the middle of the site, the river descends into a gorge, forming small streams and waterfalls.

The most famous waterfall is located very close to the Utulik tourist base. Another famous attraction of the river is the so-called Utulik "turtle". The banks of the river are varied - from high cliffs to sandy beaches.
