Toplica Palace Complex description and photos - Montenegro: Bar. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photographs and a map showing the nearest significant objects. The title in English is Toplica. Photo and descriptionThe palace complex, called Toplitsa, was built in Novy Bar towards the end of the 19th century and was the luxurious residence of the son-in-law of the Montenegrin Tsar Nicholas I - Petr Karageorgievich. The architectural ensemble includes the Big and Small palaces, two gardens - winter and botanical. Next to the palace complex there is a park along which stretches the northern city beach, which is covered with large pebbles. Today, the premises of the Big and Small Palaces are occupied by various exhibition halls and the city museum of local lore. The museum presents ethnographic, archaeological, as well as historical collections of exhibits, introducing visitors to the true history of Montenegro. Since Bar is one of the key cities in the territory of small Montenegro, the Museum of Local Lore here, accordingly, presents a varied and rich exposition reflecting the centuries-old history of this country. In addition, museum visitors are invited to get acquainted with the history of Virpazar - the oldest narrow-gauge railway in Montenegro. Instead of the botanical and winter gardens, there is a restaurant on the territory of the palace complex.
