Photo and description

One of the most interesting architectural monuments in Tivat is the Renaissance Buche complex, also called the Summer House. The palace complex was built in the 16th century.

This is the only palace-fortress on the Tivat coast, which is famous for the luxurious decoration of the inner chambers. The palace itself belonged to the noble and respected Montenegrin family Bucha. Subsequently, the complex was bought by captain Marko Lukovic, and even later, Marko's relatives transferred part of their own territory to the city.

The Renaissance palace complex consists of a residential building, a garden, a family chapel, and various outbuildings. All structures are surrounded by walls with a tower.

Originally, the tower was built for the sole purpose of defense. Before there was a special wooden balcony, which housed the guards of the palace. The family chapel, dedicated to the Archangel Michael, is the embodiment of the famous baroque style. The residential building has not survived to this day in its original form, more than a hundred years ago the building underwent a complete reconstruction.

Now this part of the complex houses a museum and an exhibition gallery. On the territory of the former palace complex, there is a cinema, as well as a summer theater for exhibitions, shows and festivals.
