Photo and description

Taman Saraswati Temple is considered one of the most beautiful temples in Bali. The road to the temple runs along a long stone lined alley surrounded by lotus ponds. Along the alley, on both sides, there are small stone statues.

The Taman Saraswati Temple, which is also called the Palace of Water, was built in the style typical of Balinese temples - of red brick and white stone, skillfully decorated with wooden carvings, bas-reliefs and figures of deities. The door to the temple is decorated with wooden carvings with gilding. The temple is dedicated to Devi Saraswati, the goddess of wisdom, patroness of the arts, whose name translates as "flowing river".

In front of the entrance to the temple there is a cafe Lotus, where you can sit down to relax and have a snack. In the evenings, theatrical performances are held in the cafe, Guests can watch traditional Balinese Barong dance at dinner. The Barong is a religious dance that shows the struggle between good and evil. The forces of good are the barong, a mythical creature depicted by two dancers, evil is represented by the witch Rangda. The final battle between good and evil is a dance with Chris's Indonesian ritual daggers, and in the end good triumphs over evil. It is worth noting that Ubud is famous for the best dance school on the island, so dance performances attract special attention of tourists.

The temple is surrounded by a beautiful park, with ponds in which many lotuses grow, in the evening the entire territory is illuminated with lighted lamps. In June, the temple hosts celebrations in honor of the goddess Saraswati.
