Photo and descriptionThe Amur Regional Museum of Local Lore, located in Blagoveshchensk at the corner of Lenin Street and Svyatitel Innokenty Lane, is one of the city's cultural attractions and one of the oldest museums in the Far East. The magnificent stone building of the Museum of Local Lore is over a hundred years old. Initially, one of the stores of a well-known trading company was located here - the store of German merchants "Kunst and Albers" was built by Chinese workers in 1894. And today this house is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city of Blagoveshchensk. The Amur Museum of Local Lore was founded in August 1891. At this time in Blagoveshchensk, preparations were made for the arrival of the heir to the royal throne - the future Nicholas II. Gold miners erected a pavilion on the banks of the Amur, where nuggets and samples of gold-bearing rocks, models of mines and photographs were exhibited. When the heir to the throne left Blagoveshchensk, all the exhibits (in addition to gold) were transferred to the city and formed the basis of the collection of the local history museum. In 1995, the museum was named after T.S.Novikov-Daursky, a well-known local historian of the Amur region, who worked in the museum for 34 years. Museum materials are located in 26 rooms. The museum's funds include more than 180 thousand exhibits illustrating the history and natural resources of the Amur Region. The largest museum collections are: natural science - about 8 thousand museum items, numismatic - over 8 thousand, archaeological - about 9 thousand and ethnographic - about 4 thousand.
