Photo and description

Taman Budai Cultural Center is located in the eastern part of Denpasar city. The second name of the center is the Bali Arts Center.

The Cultural Center is housed in several buildings that represent the finest example of traditional Bali architecture. The Bali Arts Festival is held annually in the center of Taman Budai, which starts in mid-June and lasts until mid-July. At this time, the city hosts performances of various music and dance groups from all provinces of Bali. In recent years, groups from other countries, such as Japan and the USA, have also begun to come to the festival. The festival opens with a parade of participants who showcase provincial costumes and orchestras. In addition, there are souvenir shops on the streets of the city, where you can buy handicrafts and taste the local cuisine.

The Taman Budai Center was founded in 1973, the total area of this cultural complex is 5 hectares. The center is divided into three zones, on the territory of the center there is a library, a temple, pavilions, one of which is on the water, an exhibition hall, and an art gallery. There is even a playground on the territory of the center.

The highlight that attracts tourists is the two huge performance areas. The first amphitheater venue can accommodate about 7,000 spectators. Usually national dances or dramatic performances are shown on this site. The show with the kecak ritual dance, which in translation means “monkey dance”, seems especially striking. The second site occupies 5500 sq.m., and usually hosts seminars and conferences.
