Cape Todor is a bizarre, interesting shape. It enters the sea with three of its spurs at once. Therefore, they were called the "Neptunian Trident". The highest and southern spur is the Ai-Todor "tooth". For a long time, it served as a very reliable and clear reference point for sailors.

At the highest peak of the spur, there is a lighthouse that can be seen far out into the sea. Its visibility reaches over fifty miles. This lighthouse has a cultural and historical value, but still fulfills its purpose. A number of old trees have been preserved on the side of the mountain next to it. They are the remains of the southern coastal forest. This forest is more than a hundred years old.

This area is dominated by powerful oaks, pistachio trees and beautiful junipers. The most valuable is the pistachio tree, that grows near the lighthouse. This tree is over a thousand years old. It is officially listed in the Red Book and is the oldest tree in Crimea.

Ay-Todor has been used as a landmark beacon for a long time and was listed on geographical manuscript maps. At present, an old handwritten Italian map has been preserved, the author of which is Visconti, on which the landmark Ai-Todor is applied. The date on the map is -1318. In the 15th century, the famous traveler Nikitin skirted Cape Ai-Todor. He traveled from Balaklava to the beautiful city of Feodosia.

For some time there was a Roman fortification on this cape. The archaeologists who found its remains called Kharax.
