The mosque was erected by order of Sultan Mustafa III in the period from 1760 to 1763. The project of the mosque in the Ottoman Baroque style was created by the talented architect Mehmed Tahir Agha. The diameter of the dome of the Tulip Mosque is twelve and a half meters, while the height of the dome is twenty four and a half meters.
