Rating: 8,9/10 ( votes) House with dragons – this is another architectural decoration of the Sanssouci Park in Potsdam. It is located north of Goat Park, away from the alley with mulberry trees. The building of the house is located on the slope of the Klausberg Mountain (another name is Drakonovaya), covered with vineyards on the opposite side. The house, which was supposed to serve as living quarters for the vineyards, was built in 1770 by the architect Karl von Gontard. The building has a rather interesting appearance, reminiscent of a Chinese pagoda. The architect chose the large pagoda of V. Chamber in the English royal park as a role model. The floors of the house are three gradually tapering tiers. A long staircase rises to the entrance. The building got its unusual name for a reason. Its roof is adorned with stone figures of dragons with open mouths. In the 19th century, the house underwent reconstruction. Today the building is in good condition, now it houses a restaurant.
