Today, the senate, the mayor and the council sit in the building of the town hall. The first mention of the town hall dates back to the 14th century, when an ordinary house was built in the very center of the city. A little later, this building was bought out by the local authorities, and the town hall was located here. To accommodate the governing body, two buildings of different architectural style were combined. Since then, the main city building has been rebuilt several times, and the town hall acquired its modern look in the 18th century. The Baroque facade was designed by Joseph Mungenast. The architectural ensemble of the Town Hall is a mixture of Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance styles.
