For the construction of the Town Hall, the town acquired a house dating back to the 16th century in 1775 century. In 1814, a tower was added to the house; since then, the architecture of the house has remained practically unchanged. The bell, installed on the tower, served to invite members of the magistrate to meetings. Later, the bell was used to announce an alarm during a fire. Today, on the facade of the house, you can see a memorial plaque dedicated to Frantisek Turinsky – a native of Podebrady, the famous playwright and poet of the Renaissance. The sculptor Bohuslav Shnirch was responsible for the creation of the memorial plaque.
