ImagePallas-Yllastunturi National Park is the third largest national park in Finland. The park is located in the northern part of the country, in the Lapland province. The park was formed quite recently, in 2005, in connection with the unification of the territories of Yllas-Aakenus and Pallas-Ounastunturi parks. The area of the park is 1020 sq. km. There are high hills in the park - the southernmost place of the country, where representatives of various arctic species live. The highest of the hills - Taivaskero - reaches a height of about 805 meters. A significant part of the territory of the Pallas-Yllastunturi National Park is covered with swamps and the oldest forests. There are about 350 kilometers of marked hiking trails. The most popular among them is the Hitta-Pallas route, with a length of about 55 kilometers. ImageImageImageImageImageImage
