Holnstein Palace – an old palace in Munich, which has been the residence of the Archbishop of Munich and Freising since 1818.
The palace was built in 1733-1737. Francois de Cuville for the favorite of the Bavarian Elector Karl Albrecht, Countess Holnstein, Sophia-Caroline von Ingenheim. The interior of the palace was created under the supervision of Johann Baptist Zimmermann. The palace's elegant Rococo facade has earned Holnstein a reputation as the best Munich palace in this style. The palace is closed for visits.
