Maximilianeum – an old building in Munich, built in 1857 according to
by order of the Bavarian king Maximilian II, designed by Friedrich Burklein. Construction was delayed and was completed only in 1874.
Maximilianeum is located on the banks of the Isar River. It was built in the neo-Gothic style, but Gottfried Semper introduced many Renaissance features into the decor. The interior is decorated with murals by Schnorr von Karolsfeld, Folz and Kaulbach. Since 1876, the building has housed the Maximilianeum Foundation, and since 1949, the Bavarian Landtag has been meeting here. In 1958, 1964 and 1992, renovations were carried out,
