The Basilica of Constantine, located in the city of Trier, is a magnificent Roman structure that originally served as a meeting room.

The Basilica was built by order of Emperor Constantine in 310 AD. This large-scale structure was intended to emphasize the power and strength of the emperor.

The basilica was originally decorated with many decorative elements and statues, which were later destroyed by Germanic tribes who invaded the city in the 6th century.

In the 17th century, part of the building was destroyed in connection with the construction of the Residence for the Elector. Since the difference in architecture was striking, the Prussian king Frederick William the Fourth ordered the reconstruction of the eastern wall.

In 1856, the Church of the Holy Savior settled in the building, which is located here today.

During the Second World War, there was a massive fire in the building, as a result of which the Roman structure was seriously damaged. At the end of the war, the building underwent a number of large-scale restoration works.
