The Castle Tower, located in the old part of Dusseldorf, is one of the symbols of the city. In the 13th century, Count von Berg built a castle, on the ruins of which a new castle was erected in the 16th century. The first three floors of the tower have been preserved from the old castle. The fourth floor was added in 1552 by the Italian architect Alessandro Pasqualini. Nowadays, the tower houses a shipping museum, exhibits of which tell about the history of the Rhine shipping of Dusseldorf.
