Its exhibits are housed in a beautiful palace, built in 1796, which is decorated with paintings on wood, marble and colored ceramic tiles. Once in the past, a wealthy city dweller lived here. Until 1941, this mansion was privately owned, and after that the state bought it and placed the Tunisian art bureau here. In 1978, the Dar bin Abdallah Museum of Folk Traditions and Art was opened in the palace. The rooms of the palace are located around the courtyard, among them are common rooms, rooms for guests and rooms for the owner. Behind the chic front door, there is a long corridor with benches, which is a kind of reception area where the petitioners were waiting. The exhibition halls of the museum are located on the first floor of the mansion. With the help of wax figures, the traditional life of a noble family of the 18th century has been restored. Each room represents one of the sides of everyday life: engagement and wedding, birth and education of children, and so on, which is reflected in beautiful wedding dresses, national men's attire, children's and ritual clothes and much more.
