The Museum of Fine Arts of the State of Tunisia Dar bin Abdullah is located in a palace built in 1796 and decorated with paintings on wood panels, colorful ceramic and marble tiles.

It used to be the home of one of the wealthiest residents of the city. But in 1941 the mansion was bought by the Tunisian government and housed by the "Bureau of Arts". And after a while - in 1978, the State Museum of Arts was opened in the palace.

The halls of the museum, where exhibitions are held, are located on the first and partially on the second floor of the palace around the courtyard, which is closed from prying eyes by high walls, because once it was the territory of a harem, the wives of the owner of the palace walked here. In order to enter the courtyard, you need to walk along a winding and winding narrow corridor.

In the museum you can learn about the traditional arts and customs of the people of Tunisia. The life of the people of the 18th-19th centuries has been recreated here. The exposition of each room reveals to visitors one of the sides of the everyday life of the family of a wealthy nobleman: the birth of a child, his growing up and training, engagement, wedding.
