Fort Al Hisn in the UAE, Sharjah resort
Rating: 8,8/10 (4029 votes)  Al Hisn Fort is a two-story fortress that used to belong to the royal family who ruled in Sharjah. The fort was built in 1820 and for a long time served as the residence of the ruler. In 1969, the Al Hisn fort was almost completely destroyed, and new modern buildings were built in its place. In 1996 the fortress was restored according to the old drawings. Only a 12-meter tower and two walls have survived from the 19th century building. At present, it houses a museum. The museum displays exhibitions that tell about the most important historical events in Sharjah. Interesting exhibits include a collection of weapons, coins, pearls and jewelry.
