The museum collection contains works by German craftsmen, written after 1945 by teachers and graduates of the State Academy of Arts. Here are the works of such famous artists as Georg Baselitz, Marlene Dumas, Sigmar Polke, Markus Lupertz, Rosemary TrockelPer Kirkeby and others. The gallery also contains a large collection of French and Italian masterpieces. German and Dutch painters of the 15th - 18th centuries. The collection includes works by Martin Schongauer, Jacques Callot, Annibale Carracci, Van Dyck, Claude Lorrain, Albrecht Durer and others. In 1981-1997, the museum was housed in the Prince Max Palace. Today, the museum often hosts special exhibitions.
