This cathedral is the main architectural landmark of the old city. The facade of the cathedral is decorated with a pair of towers. The construction of the building began in 1538. After the earthquake of 1680, the cathedral was badly damaged, and it was only restored in 1719. From the north tower, whose height is   86 meters, wonderful views of the city open.

The length of the cathedral together with the side naves is 115 meters. In the third chapel of the south aisle, you can see a painting by Alonso Cano, The Most Pure Virgin with the Saints. On the left side of the Royal Chapel are kneeling Catholic monks and a statue of the Holy Virgin. The main chapel has an altar decorated with scenes of the Passion of the Lord.

Particular attention should be paid to the cathedral choir of 1592-1631. Here on the seats are carved wooden images of saints and other statues created by Jose Macael and   Pedro de Menome.
