Currently, the Town Hall houses the Senate and the City Hall. Several halls of the building are used for meetings and city events. Construction of a new Renaissance town hall began in 1886 on the site of the old town hall, which was destroyed by fire in 1842. The construction was completed in 1897. The author of the project is the architect Martin Haller. The facade of the Town Hall is decorated with figures of German emperors. The interior is decorated with gold and wood. In the courtyard, there is a beautiful fountain symbolizing the victory over the cholera epidemic, which happened in 1892.
