The Market Square, located in the center of the Old Lubeck, is one of the most popular places for walking and recreation among tourists. The square is surrounded by an excellent architectural ensemble of red-brick buildings. The main attraction of the square is the old Town Hall, which was recognized as one of the most beautiful in Germany. The Town Hall building was erected in the XIII – XIV centuries. The main building material was dark glazed brick. In 1570 a new Renaissance pediment was added to the building. Currently, guided tours are held in the Town Hall. The following premises of the Town Hall deserve special attention: `` Bride's chambers '', `` Admiral's room '' and a wine cellar. The Market Square and Town Hall, along with other attractions in the old part of Lubeck, have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
