Rating: 7,5/10 (100 votes) Al Maktoum Bridge is the first bridge to be built in Dubai. It was opened in 1963, and the name was in honor of the ruling family of the city of Dubai. To recoup the costs of building the bridge, travel on it was paid until 1973. The Al Maktouk Bridge is one of five ways to cross Creek and one of four existing bridges spanning this bay. The bridge connects two cultural and historical districts of Dubai - Bar Dubai and Deira. In 2007 the bridge was expanded and reconstructed, now it has 9 lanes transport.
