The temple building was designed by Friedrich Schmidt, who is the author of the Vienna City Hall project. The height of the church is about 68 meters. On February 18, 2010, unknown criminals tried to set fire to the interior of the church. The fire was extinguished, but the smoke caused damage to the church.
