Town Hall (New Town Hall) in Austria, Vienna resort
Rating: 7,5/10 (100 votes)  In the middle of the 19th century, Vienna expanded geographically, and the number of inhabitants reached 450 thousand, in connection with which it became necessary to create a new, larger, town hall. In 1868, a competition was announced for the design of the New Town Hall. The competition was won by a project by Friedrich von Schmidt. The new building was built in 1872-1883. Externally, the building of the town hall looks in the Flemish Gothic style, and the internal layout is made according to all the rules of the Baroque style. The building contains a large number of halls and seven courtyards. The Arcade Courtyard is the largest venue for concerts at the Vienna Summer Music Festival. The two-story meeting room of the Community Council makes a special impression from the halls. In the premises of the town hall, approximately 800 events are held every year.
