Rating: 7,5/10 (100 votes) Santa Maria del Carmine is a church located on the south bank of the Arno River. It is dedicated to the Madonna of the Carmelite Order. The unremarkable Florentine temple is famous for its famous frescoes in the Brancacci Chapel. The church was badly destroyed by fire in 1771, but the chapel with the Renaissance cycle of frescoes, on which Masolino da Panicale, Masaccio and Filippino Lippi worked, has retained its original appearance. It was undergoing restoration for some time, financed by the Olivetti company, which only opened to the public in 1990.
