Al-Jazzar Mosque is the third largest mosque in Israel. Until 1967, an important and largest Muslim center was located in the building of the mosque.

The construction of the mosque was started by order of Al-Jazzar in 1745, on the ruins of a Templar church. The mosque was supposed to symbolize the power of the city of Akko, as well as the power of Al-Jazzar.
