Baths, madrasahs and tombs have found their place in the architectural ensemble of the mosque. The Ali Pasha Mosque is a smaller architectural copy of the Hagia Sophia (Hagia Sophia Museum). In the courtyard of the mosque, you can see porticoes decorated with calligraphic inscriptions citing the Koran. The customer of the mosque is considered to be Kilik Ali Pasha (nee Giovanni Galeni), a famous corsair who served the Sultan, his master. The remains of this illustrious pirate, whose name the mosque is named after, rests in a tomb next to the mosque.
