Kornati National Park is located in the Kornati archipelago, in the region of central Dalmatia. The park covers 89 islands, it does not include only the islands of the northern part of the archipelago. The park covers an area (together with the sea) with an area of 220 square kilometers. The largest island in the archipelago is the island of Kornati. There are no permanent residents on the islands.

The Kornati Nature Reserve is a great place for diving enthusiasts. Here you can admire the variety of marine animals and the beauty of the Kornati"crowns" - this is a geological phenomenon, rocks that"grow" from the sea. Such rocks reach a height of up to 100 meters, both in the surface and in the underwater part. Climbing them is strictly prohibited, but even looking at them from afar is good luck and pleasure.

Sheep and olives are raised in the national park. In addition, many other animals live here: martens, lizards, snakes, birds and others. The underwater world is very rich: mollusks, a large number of fish, corals, pearls.

For art and history lovers, there are:
  • Tureta Fortress, which was founded in the 6th century.
  • Church of St. Mary, built during the Byzantine era.
  • Venetian fortress.
The Kornati Islands received the status of a national park in 1964.
