The Museum of Cham Culture or Bao Tang Cham is one of the most interesting museums in Da Nang.

The foundation of the Museum of Cham Culture was due to the French School of Far Eastern Studies in 1915. Today the museum has the richest collection of Cham sculptures in the world. Most samples of stone carving – linga, altars, Ganesha, Garuda and images of Vishnu, Brahma and Shiva – are absolutely stunning.

The museum is located at the intersection of Bat Dang and Nuwyong streets. The museum guide, presented in three languages, was compiled by Tran Ki Phuong – director of the museum and the most prominent researcher of the Cham civilization. The guide also included information about all museum exhibits. You can buy the guide at the entrance at the ticket office.

The art of cham is divided into two periods. Until the 10th century, art seemed to be quite emotionally expressive. From the 10th to the 14th centuries after the decline of Champa, due to endless wars, art became more formal, falling under the influence of the Khemer.

Museum exhibits were discovered during excavations carried out in Dong Duong, Michon , Thap Mame, Khuongmi, Chakyeu and other places.
