Ulcinj Fortress has preserved traces of various ancient civilizations (Romans, Greeks, Turks and others). Once Ulcinj Fortress was a famous pirate fortress, and according to one of the legends, the famous Miguel de Cervantes spent here 5 years in captivity of pirates. A local girl inspired the writer to create the image of Dulcinea, who in a work of art was Don Quixote's muse. There is a fairly wide road along the wall of the fortress, but the higher you go, the narrower it becomes. There are many residential buildings built in the 16th century on the territory of the fortress, and surprisingly, all these houses are residential. Another interesting feature is that the fortress has many exits through which you can go down to the sea. The stairs have a modern look, which does not fit with the surrounding antiquity. There is a restaurant on the territory of the fortress. We also recommend reading Epidaurus in Greece, Peloponnese resort Topic: Ulcinj Fortress (Old Town) in Montenegro, Ulcinj resort. |
