The Church of St. Blaise is located in the central square of the Old Town of Dubrovnik. She is revered and loved by the locals. Saint Vlach is a holy great martyr who at the beginning of the 4th century was a bishop in the city of Sebastia (Roman Empire). He is revered in both the Orthodox and Catholic faiths. Vlach is considered the patron saint of Dubrovnik.

The church that we see now was built at the beginning of the 18th century, on the site of the former Romanesque church, which was badly damaged by an earthquake in 1667. and then in 1706 it burned down in a fire. The new building was erected by a Venetian architect in the baroque style.

The church was built in the form of a Greek cross, and its central volume is crowned with a large dome. The central facade of the church is decorated with sculptures of St. Blaise and other saints, as well as details typical of the Baroque style. Another decoration of the temple is the stained-glass windows, which look unusual against the background of the walls. In front of the entrance to the temple there is a wide staircase, on the steps of which tourists like to rest.

The interior of the church of St. Blaus is rich and beautiful. There is an ancient sculpture of St. Vlach holding in his hands a model of the medieval city of Dubrovnik. It is now part of the central altar. Also inside the temple is a magnificent organ, which is surrounded by oil paintings depicting saints in gilded frames.
