Mien Tong was the eldest son of Min Mang. In January 1841 he became emperor, however, under the name Thieu Tri. After 6 years of reign, the emperor fell ill and died in September 1847.

Thieu Tri did not manage to build a tomb for himself. Immediately after his son came to power – Tu Duc, he turned to geologists with a request to find a suitable place for the construction of the tomb. In February 1848, the construction of the tomb was started, and 10 months later it was completed. The Tomb of Thieu Three was built in the village of Ku Tian, at the foot of Mount Thuan Dao.

The tomb consists of two parts – temple area and crypt. This is the only tomb that has not been surrounded by an outer wall.
