The Basilica of San Lorenzo in Lucina is a titular basilica located near the altar of Peace.

The first early Christian church was built in IV – 5th century on the site where the house of the Roman matron Luchina was located. The church was consecrated in honor of St. Lawrence. Today the relics of the saint are kept under the main altar. The crypt contains the remains of an ancient temple. At the beginning of the 12th century, under Pope Paschalia II, the church was renovated, and only the portico with columns of the Ionic order, two porphyry lions located at the entrance to the church, and the old bell tower have survived from the old building.

In the 17th century, the temple was rebuilt in the Baroque style. The main altar with four columns, made of black marble, is the work of Carlo Rainaldi. The altar is decorated with the painting"The Crucifixion" by the painter Guido Reni.

One of the chapels contains a bust of Gabriele Fonseca, created by Bernini. Famous people such as the French painter Poussin, the Czech composer Myslivechek, and composers Bernardo Pasquini and Luca Marenzio were buried in the church.
