On a rather vast territory, there are about a thousand graves created in the form of stone tombs and mounds dating back to 500-600 BC. In 2004, the Etruscan necropolises in Cerveteri were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Only a part of the buildings are accessible to tourists in the archaeological zone. The artifacts found during excavations are now kept in the Roman National Museum, the Louvre and the Vatican Museum. The archaeological area includes – Necropolis of Banditaccia, necropolis of Sorbo, necropolis of Monte Abatone, Cervereri and the Ancient City.
