A huge number of sick people came to the city in the hope of being cured of diseases. Those who died of diseases were buried in the city. That is why the Necropolis is so big here. This cemetery is distinguished by a variety of monuments and graves. There are Lycian graves, sarcophagi, family crypts and more. The length of the Necropolis is 2 kilometers, it is conventionally divided into northern and southern parts. Burials in the Necropolis are completely different – from stone graves of commoners to huge and decorated crypts of rich and noble people. The most famous burial place in the northern part of the Necropolis – grave of Titus Flavius. It is also called the Traveler's Grave. A rectangular crypt on a stone pedestal is located to the right of the main gate. The doorway of the crypt is decorated with a stone border, and the tomb itself is crowned with a Doric frieze. In the east of the cemetery in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. the 'Graves of the Hero' began to appear - burial in the form of a house.
