Ka Palace ’ da Mosto is the oldest building on the Grand Canal.

The palace was built in the 13th century in the Venetian-Byzantine style. Initially, the palace had one floor and was built as a house for a merchant – the first owner of the building. In the 16th century, a second floor was added, and the third appeared only in the 19th century.

In 1432, Alvise da Mosto was born in the palace, who later became a great traveler. The palace got its name in honor of him. Rod da Mosta owned the palace until 1603.

From the 16th century and for two centuries, the palace housed the Hotel White Lion. In the 69 and 75 years of the 18th century, Joseph the Second stayed in the hotel – the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire.

Today the palace is not functioning, because the flood caused considerable damage to the base of the building. The owner of the palace is Francesco da Mosta – count, producer and contemporary Italian architect.

Ka Palace ’ yes Mosto, along with other attractions of Venice, was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
