The title in English is Ca 'da Mosto. Photo and descriptionCa 'da Mosto is one of the palaces in Venice, located in the Cannaregio quarter. It was built in the 13th century in the then popular Venetian-Byzantine style with its high narrow arches and recognizable capitals and today is considered the oldest building erected on the banks of the Grand Canal. The first owner of the house was a certain merchant - then it was a simple one-story building. At the beginning of the 16th century, a second floor was added to it, and in the 19th century - a third. The house got its name in honor of the famous Venetian traveler Alvise Kadamosto, who was born here in 1432. The da Mosto family owned the palace until 1603, when one of its representatives, Chiara da Mosto, bequeathed the building to his nephew, who bore a different name. From the 16th to the 18th century, Ca 'da Mosto housed the famous hotel "Albergo Leon Bianco" - "Hotel White Lion", in which the Emperor of the Holy Roman stayed in 1769 and 1775 during his stay in Venice Empire Joseph II. Today, Ca 'da Mosto is in a deplorable state - it was significantly damaged during several floods and needs restoration. It is owned by Count Francesco da Mosto, an architect and producer who is raising funds for the restoration of his heritage.
