The construction of the palace was started by order of Filippo Bona at the end of the 17th century, and completed at the beginning of the 18th century. The author of the project was Baldassar Longena, but the construction of the palace was completed several years after his death. The grandiose frescoes in the interior of the palace are the work of the Italian painter Tiepolo. The palace got its name in honor of its new owner, who acquired the mansion at the time of its completion.
